Ciara Chester-Cronin

Ciara is a criminal defence lawyer with experience across the full spectrum of criminal offending, from minor driving charges to serious drug, sexual violence and violence matters. She represents clients in both judge-alone and jury trials, with courtroom appearances spanning the District Court, High Court, and Court of Appeal.
Ciara has worked in the criminal defence field since 2017. While studying at the University of Auckland, she worked part-time in a criminal chambers and was admitted to the Bar in 2020. She is known for her attention to detail, strong work ethic, strategic approach and providing clients with clear, practical advice.
Ciara joined Federal Chambers in 2025. She is on the Committee of the Criminal Bar Association of New Zealand and is a member of the Defence Lawyers Association.
